HOW TO ANSWER INTERVIEW QUESTIONS FOR NEW EMPLOYMENT

Part 1

Interviewer: Hi there! Can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your sales experience?

Candidate: Sure! My name is John and I have been working in sales for the past 5 years. I have experience working with both B2B and B2C customers and have consistently met and exceeded sales targets in my previous roles.

Interviewer: That sounds great. Can you tell us about a time when you had to deal with a difficult customer and how you handled the situation?

Candidate: Of course. In my previous job, I had a customer who was very unhappy with our product. I listened carefully to their concerns and empathized with their situation. Then, I offered a solution that could alleviate the problem. We worked together on the solution and ultimately the customer was satisfied and became a loyal customer.

Interviewer: Excellent handling of that situation. Can you explain how you stay organized and manage your sales pipeline?

Candidate: Absolutely. I use a CRM system to keep track of my leads and sales opportunities. I prioritize my leads based on their potential for closing and make sure to follow up with each lead in a timely manner. I also update the CRM system regularly to ensure that no opportunities are missed.

Interviewer: It sounds like you’re very organized. What are some common objections you face in sales, and how do you overcome them?

Candidate: One common objection I face is around price. When a customer brings up price, I make sure to explain the value our product or service provides. I also try to align the benefits of our product to the pain points and needs that the customer has expressed. This helps them understand why our product is worth the investment.

Interviewer: That’s a great approach. Lastly, can you tell us about a time when you exceeded your sales targets and what you did to achieve that?

Candidate: Absolutely. In my previous job, I was tasked with increasing sales by 20% in the second quarter. To achieve this, I focused on identifying cross-selling and upselling opportunities within our existing customer base. I also researched and identified new target markets to expand into. Through these efforts, I was able to exceed my sales targets by 35%.

Interviewer: That’s impressive! Thank you for your time and sharing your experiences with us. We will be in touch soon regarding the next steps in the hiring process.
