Topic: THE DUTY OF A CHRISTIAN
TO GOD PART 2
MEMORY VERSE
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 KJV
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
BIBLE MEDITATION
Matthew 22:35-40 KJV
Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
MESSAGE
Good morning, how was your night? Today, by the special grace of God, we will till continue on the same topic as we were treated yesterday. As Christians, we have a duty to serve God on earth. This involves using our time, talents, and resources to glorify Him and spread His message of love and salvation. While this may seem daunting at times, there are numerous benefits to fulfilling this duty. In today message, we will explore five of these benefits of regularly performing the duty of God on earth as a Christian below:
1. Fulfilment: When we serve God, we experience a sense of fulfillment that cannot be found anywhere else. As Jesus said in John 4:34, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” By doing God’s work, we find purpose and meaning in our lives.
2. Blessings: God promises to bless those who serve Him faithfully. In Malachi 3:10, He says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” By serving God, we open ourselves up to His abundant blessings.
3. Joy: Serving God brings joy to our hearts. As the psalmist writes in Psalm 16:11, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” We experience joy when we are in God’s presence and doing His work.
4. Eternal rewards: While we may not always receive earthly rewards for our service to God, we can be sure that we will receive eternal rewards in heaven. Jesus says in Matthew 6:20, “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” By serving God on earth, we are investing in our eternal future.
5. Impact: When we serve God, we have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the world around us. As Jesus says in Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” By living out our faith and serving others, we can bring glory to God and inspire others to do the same.
In conclusion, there are numerous benefits to fulfilling our duty to serve God on earth. We experience fulfilment, blessings, joy, eternal rewards, and the opportunity to make an impact. Let us strive to serve God faithfully in all that we do, knowing that He is with us every step of the way.
